Sustainability Search

Download Teacher's Guide The Sustainability Search activity asks students to do some Internet research to find examples of large or small businesses, countries, agencies, or individuals who have improved the ways they use energy or other resources through new technology or simply using less.

When discussing the oral reports for the class, encourage students to try to include some of their own ideas that are not listed as bullet points in the website activity.

Make sure to leave time for questions that other students might have for those who are giving their oral reports.

Extension:

  • Have students make visual aids such as posters to demonstrate some of the concepts covered in their presentations.
  • Invite speakers who work in companies that are specifically focused on using energy sustainably. Ask speakers to discuss with the class some of the successful strategies their companies are utilizing to reduce the negative impact they have on the environment.
